However, the sword misses its target and thrusts into the ground instead. Karma couldn't tell if it was real or fake, but it was not her business. Karma pulled out the spare keycard and slid it through the reader. The lock clicked open. She pushed the door hard. It slammed against the wall with a crack like a gunshot. Wood splintered as the door crashed against the wall. Mia's body went rigid. A scream tore from her throat in fear. "What's happening?" Marcus yanked at the restraints. The metal bit into his skin. "Who's there? What—" Karma walked in calmly, not in a hurry and unbothered, with the knife in her hand. She reached for the door and shut it.

Chapter 17 KYOMI POV “You have got to be fucking with me.” Kara’s hand shot out at the speed of lightning before gripping my wrist in a death grip. I winced as a sharp sting panged the place she gripped, my heart plunging into my throat at her sudden outburst. She stared at my wrist with wild eyes, and the wild look on her face made me want to get the fuck out of that place while I still had my head attached to my neck. The way she looked at me; you would swear I robbed the great Ramesis’s tomb and stole all the gold that could only be found in there.

In one swift motion, I leaped onto the beast’s back, my claws sinking deep into its dark scales. The creature bucked and twisted, trying to shake me off, but I held on tight. My fingers gripped its neck like a vise, and I called upon the full power of the Moon’s Fury. I could feel the Luna energy surge through me, increasing my strength tenfold. With a swift, decisive jerk, I snapped the Gromar’s neck, ending the battle in an instant.

Kendall could feel her heart pounding as Jason's arms enveloped her with their familiar weight. Florin let out a dismissive laugh, wrapped an arm around Mary's shoulders, and walked away. I carefully picked up every single keycap from the floor, my anger burning even hotter. It wouldn't be long before I got my revenge. The next day, I spent a relaxing day at home. Tomorrow was the Fourth of July Sale. The event would officially begin at 8:00 p.m. tonight. It was one of the biggest shopping events of the year. It pushed servers to their limits and was the day every system was at its most vulnerable. It was also the moment my trap would explode with the greatest impact.

Trip asked as he went down to one knee so he was eye-level with James. “To you, I’m Grim, blood of Wrath,” James said. Jenna gasped audibly but Jake grinned proudly. Trip was smiling down at him. “Grim’s a good road name. How did you get it?” “I killed the man that killed my mother,” James said solemnly, his little face expressing the seriousness of his words. “Fuck,” Trip whispered and got to his feet. “You want a beer?” Jake asked him, heading to the fridge. “Yeah, thanks.” He rounded the table and wrapped his arms around Jenna, kissing her cheek and whispering something in her ear.

Liquid slid down my fingers as Kairos hissed. “You fucking bitch!” Kairos hissed. He grabbed me by the shoulders and slammed me down against the mat, just as he had done when he caught me during shifting class. My vision started going back and forth from black to white to visions of Kairos above me, face red and snarling. I kept digging my nails into his skin. He tried to shake him loose, but I caught him in the face, causing him to swear. He grabbed my wrist and twisted. Hard.
