I just sat down and started making work notes as the rest of the room cleared out besides Blake’s personal assistant. “Martha I wanted to take a moment and introduce you to Kate Sloan and apologize for not introducing you either” We both made polite nods and comments to each other and I had to respect this woman. Technically the company belonged to Kate's future father-in-law, Marcus Mortimer, so getting herself appointed to supervise an ad campaign and annual dinner event is child's play to someone like Kate.

A tear slipped from her dilated eyes. "I will always be by your side and together we will overcome this, Kate Marshall." Dad kissed her palm and finger-combed her hair that now resembled a bed nest till she passed out. It was at this moment I knew how dangerous Lucindo was. When he replied I thought to let me know that she is mine. I interrupted them and said, "She is my fated mate." The Mayor looked surprised. Kate blushed and looked at me. I smiled, knowing that I had finally found my true love.

I gave her first aid and treated her. Tonight, I'll cook dinner," I stated. But you are not strong. I'm okay , Daisy, I'll prepare something easy for us. She had never imagined feeling threatened by someone as disgusting as Kate. Travis knuckles cracked as his lips flattened as he drew in slow, steady breath. “Get me out of here. I've got my wedding to plan.” Madam Kate's voice as she strutted through the compound, her guards falling in place side to side like her little minions. She brushed through her manicure and rechecked her makeup, douching off a wrinkle that stood upright. “In a matter of weeks. This mansion would be all mine. All mine to live in. All mine to love again.” She muttered to herself, a sinister laughter escaping her lips.

She read the second document. A name. A woman named Catherine Marsh. Forty-seven years old. Deputy city attorney for the city of Atlanta. Fifteen years in the position. A public record so clean it had the specific quality of something that had been maintained rather than simply accumulated, the careful construction of a person who understood that their public face was their most important asset. She had been inside the network for eighteen months. Not because she had been recruited. Because she had built it. Sienna sat back from the laptop.
