Zayn pulled out a crumpled piece of paper, smoothing it out on the table. It was a drawing. Simple. Uneven lines. Bright colors. Three figures. Aira recognized it immediately. Zayn pointed at it proudly. “This is me. And that’s Mum. And… that’s you.” Lucien’s gaze fixed on the drawing. For a moment, he didn’t speak. His fingers moved slightly, as if he wanted to touch the paper but stopped himself. “And you made this?” he asked. Zayn nodded. “Yes.” Lucien’s expression didn’t change much.

In the second-floor nurseries, I drew the Moon Goddess standing over three wolf cubs in one, I drew the Moon Goddess standing over three baby dragons in another, then I drew the Moon Goddess standing over two sleeping baby dragons and one sleeping wolf cub. On her lap lay a large sketchbook, pencils, and several colored markers. She drew while biting her lip, occasionally erasing lines with a small eraser. “If the East branch café looks like this… would Daddy like it?” Olivia muttered softly. She added details of large windows on the side of the building, then drew a long table in the outdoor area. Her hand moved swiftly, her eyes focused.
