Chapter 107: Moonlight –A few hours ago– The office was quite except for the sound of the scratching of a fountain pen. Keegan Sergeyev sat behind his desk with his sleeves rolled up just enough to reveal the faint hint of ink stains and his dark, intricate tattoos that snaked along his forearms. His eyes were sharp and fixed on the papers in front of him, where his signatures were needed to seal shipments, alliances, and other business matters. Out of nowhere, the door opened with a gentle knock.

Alpha Sean did some growling of his own when I described what they had acted like for the remainder of their high school days. “Well, that explains why you wanted to graduate early, you wanted to be gone by the time they came back from their alpha training.” I nodded yes to Jacob’s statement. “What about this Keegan guy you said you hung out with off and on? He’s the future alpha of the neighboring pack, right?” Alpha Sean asks "I think I remember him from training," Jacob said. "If I remember correctly, he seemed like a half-decent guy. I didn't interact with him much though."

It felt as if all of the air had been sucked out of the room. I’d never seen him before, but I didn’t need an introduction. I knew who he was. “No press and no speeches just work.” My chest tightens. “That doesn’t erase what happened,” I murmur. “No,” she says simply. “It doesn’t but it tells you something about who he is trying to be now.” Before I can respond, the back door swings open and Keenan walks in with a cup of coffee already in his hand his hair messy, eyes bright and that familiar easy grin on his face. “Morning, girls,” he says leaning over to kiss Ruth on the cheek. “Nana, you look dangerous with that dish towel.”
