Athena wasn’t so used to being touched by strangers, so she hesitated to return that hug. Kira understood something was wrong, “I am sorry, I should have introduced myself to you first, “I am Kira. Zae had asked me to take you to the store,” she looked at the Athena as if she had known her for ages. “You are so pretty.” She twirled Athena’s long hair in her fingers. "Oh, my god, you have such long hair,” she chirped. “We will have so much fun,” she jumped, dragging Athena with her.

Up until now, it had ignored them, now the words of their mouths set a wheel in motion in its limbs and it staggered toward them with chains clattering against each other as it went. “They are saying it wrong,” Mare muttered to herself. Where the knowledge of that came from, she didn’t know, but an unfolding had begun in her belly, surging into her heart very slowly and the unlocking of a hidden treasure exposed something ancient within her. “They said it wrong.” Her muttering went unnoticed. The younger Kronos man staggered back. “It is coming!” “Louder,” the oldest among them urged. They stumbled through the words that had been recited to them since they were babes. “Ehyra drakos forem ni

Smith’s POV “You are probably wondering why I am doing this. Melissa, you know I didn’t finish the story?” Melissa’s POV I have long forgotten the ending of the story, so I didn’t know whether he finished it or not. “The lion took care of the antelopes calves, just to later sacrifice them to other lions. That’s true revenge!” he said clasping my shoulder. A cold shiver and sweat ran down my back. “Do you know who Kate is?” he asked me. I really think that he has lost it. Kate is my son Albert’s girlfriend. “What do you mean?” I asked him.

The smell of burnt fur and moans of pain was heard as Alice shifted back into her human form. “Rook, Crystal, please forgive me.” Rook’s mother bowed her head in submission and apology. Aria looked over to where she stood ignoring everyone else. She dipped her head and her fearsome mouth trailing smoke, rested against Rook’s chest as she stared into his eyes. He slowly nodded at whatever she was saying to him. “Aria and Crystal forgives you mother. Aria carries the mate mark because it will endanger me if anyone sees it on Crystal when she is working.”

My voice echoed, small. And even before I saw water this river stink found me oil, dead fish, wet cement. I walked toward it because that gut pull said to me. Each step felt like dragging along a leash I couldn’t see. The mate-bond, I guess. I’d never met Kael Blackthorn, just heard the stories: the Alpha who left cooling bodies in his footsteps, who laughed as he ripped challengers into shreds. The notion should have scared me into looking elsewhere. Instead my legs kept going, which had been rented by something in the world.

Eiraeth shouted. Liam exchanged looks with me and I nodded in response. “Alright,” he muttered, and then he stood up and looked around him then he walked towards Eiraeth. He knelt beside him and placed his hand on his stomach. “This is a temporary healing and would only last for a few hours until the real antidote is prepared but we need your help so I will heal you now,” he told him and then he started chanting in a foreign language and a light appeared in between his palm and Eiraeth stomach and then the blood on his lips disappeared. “I am done,” he announced and removed his hand.

Power. Not the cold, silver threads of my Weaver heritage, now severed and silent. Not the warm, borrowed strength of Kaelen’s Alpha might. This was something else. Something foundational. The Aether was the raw stuff of creation, the magma beneath the crust of reality. It did not flow into me; it unmade me and remade me in its passage.

Together, we can end this. “No,” Alex whispered, shaking their head. “I don’t need you.” Kael swam to their side, his expression grim. “Alex, whatever you’re doing, do it fast!” Taking a deep breath, Alex focused all their energy into the Nexus. The crystal glowed brighter than ever, its light enveloping the leviathan in a searing beam. The creature let out a final, guttural roar before retreating into the darkness, its glowing eyes fading from view.

Kairos stepped forward, utilizing his telepathic abilities to bridge the gap between the Guardians and the Aethers. He projected images of the pristine past, of a world teeming with life, a stark contrast to the barren landscape that surrounded them. He then channeled the despair and anger of the dying ecosystem, allowing the Aethers to feel the planet's pain as their own. The emotions resonated deeply. A collective gasp filled the air as the Aethers experienced the raw anguish of their world. Tears streamed down Elder Aerilon's face as he looked upon their ruined paradise. This collective experience sparked a transformation. The Aethers, once consumed by despair, were now fueled by a burnin

Kenji replied from a nearby holographic display, his face illuminated by the cascading data of the Metro City Stock Exchange. "The new Quinton-grade encryption is holding steady, and the 'Aether' markets are seeing record growth. We’ve finally built a city that is truly beyond the reach of the old world’s instabilities." They didn't realize that the "Aether" they were so proud of was about to become the very weapon used to destroy them. ------------------
