FINN I dragged a chair to the centre of the dark room and sat opposite Elder Milton, who hung bound in silver chains. “I heard you wanted to talk, Elder Milton,” I said, it was more a statement than a question. He watched me with ragged breaths, eyes wet. I took a long drag from my cigarette letting the smoke curl up toward the ceiling. “I was willing to speak two days ago,” he rasped. “I gave up almost as soon as you dragged me out, tried to bargain for less of this but you—you did not show up and dragged me into this pit on purpose,” his voice snapped into a scream as the acid tank beneath him hissed and licked upward an inch.

Briella said, wearing a coat. “What is the name of the club? I'll have Dalton check it out.” Dalton was Mr Milton's trusted personal aide. “I didn't.. Get the name.” Briella stammered. Mr Milton stood up and pulled Briella into a hug and rubbed her back. “Calm down, Breathe. Brian would be fine. I'll make some calls and get the name of the club.” Briella nodded, she suddenly felt like she was freezing, she rubbed her hands rubbing against each other praying silently that it wouldn't be anything serious.

Melvin’s eyes were meeting my gazes at him sharply. “M-Me?” I said, pointing myself. “Hi-Hiding something from you—” I shrieked as he made me turn my back forcefully. I heard Melvin mockingly chuckled. “Hah. So what’s with the baseball bat. Are you planning to hit it on me?” he asked. Melvin leaned closer and blew his breath on my neck. I shivered. “Why is everyone so damn fucking obsessed with you, Keatton,” he commenced.

Anthony guiltily avoided my gaze as he stammered a response, "M-My mom told me about it… She's just doing it for my good, for our future…" What a load of crap.

And this time, he’d gone too fucking far. I hurried around the corner to the side of the arcade where I knew the Miltonians usually hung out. By Miltonians, I meant the students of Milton Academy. Even though the arcade was neutral ground for both schools, that didn’t stop us from marking our own territories. The Miltonians had their domain and so did our school.

Milo retorts, dismissing my mood. I relax a little, reminding myself that these are my friends. They mean me no harm. “Yeah, Kas just fell asleep,” I look at my phone, wishing she was still awake, “Gimme a second, I need to send some te-.” Milo laughs maniacally before I finish my sentence. “What’s so funny?” I drop my arms, feeling a little annoyed at his outburst. “I’m watching the video of Kas kicking your ass around the training ring,” he wipes his tears of laughter as I hear people oohing from his phone.

​But that wasn't what made me stop in the doorway. ​Milo was sitting on the floor right next to him. My fearless eleven-month-old nephew was happily chewing on the heavy, silver buckle of Kaelen’s combat boot. Every time Kaelen moved a piece of wood, Milo would babble loudly, reaching his chubby hands up to slap Kaelen’s thick, tattooed arm. ​Instead of getting annoyed, the terrifying, lethal giant of Thornwood Peaks would just pause, let Milo hit his arm, and softly trace the baby’s cheek with his giant thumb before going back to work.

Time seemed to crawl by until finally, a man approached us, introducing himself as Milton. “Hello, I’m Milton,” he said, his voice tinged with warmth. “I serve as the right-hand man to our leader.” Relief flooded through me as I realized we were finally getting somewhere. “Nice to meet you, Milton,” I replied, extending my hand. “I’m Ricky, and these are my brothers, Jules and Cole.” Milton shook my hand firmly before turning his attention to our reason for being there. I explained to him about our quest for the rare herb and the urgency of our situation. To my surprise, Milton nodded understandingly, his expression thoughtful.

Was he going to die with these people before him, or accept legal sanctions? This painful choice made his head hurt. In the end, Milton roared wildly, saying, "Damn it all! I'm not going down without a fight!" He aimed his pistol at Ethan and pulled the trigger. To Milton, Ethan was the real culprit behind everything. Then the moment Milton raised his hand, Wilbur flicked his fingers and a burst of aura shot out, piercing Milton's wrist. The pistol in his hand fell to the ground with a thud. Milton was shocked. At the same time, Wilbur stepped forward and punched him in the stomach, sending him flying to the wall. Milton spat out blood and slowly slid down from the wall.
