"But... why? You hated me. You said I was nothing. You said a female couldn't lead." Killian looked away for a second, his jaw tightening. He looked like he wanted to punch a wall. "I was an idiot," he growled. "I was a blind, arrogant fool who thought he knew everything about strength. I spent weeks trying to break you, trying to make you quit, and you just kept getting back up. You did things in that forest that half the guys in my dorm couldn't dream of."

Veins pulsed across his temple and eyes glowed with murder. The man beneath him trembled, shaking his head in denial but Killian’s patience was long gone. He pressed his boot harder, grinding into the man’s ribs. Killian didn’t hesitate. His gun lifted. The trigger snapped and the man’s chest burst open in a spray of bl*od. Killian’s eyes found another attacker. His next shot blew a skull apart and the man collapsed. He was merciless. He would hunt down every last one of them. No one would walk away after daring to touch what belonged to him!

“No—!” But the Alpha was already in the storm. The bond flared, wild and consuming, burning her insides with every strike he landed, every scream that split the air. She felt his fury as if it were her own. Every kill tasted like fire in her veins. Her body trembled under it — heat, horror, desperation — all warring within her. Kilian moved like shadow and flame. A blade slashed across his side — he didn’t falter. He twisted, snapping an attacker’s wrist, driving his claws up through the man’s jaw until blood burst free in a torrent.

The bond was feeding his raw, bloodthirsty adrenaline directly into my hybrid core, turning my every instinct into a weapon of pure territorial defense. Killian hit the base of the vault floor like a dark meteor, his massive claymore unsheathed, the silver-coated edge casting a lethal, pale reflection against the wet stone walls. His amber eyes were completely swallowed by the pitch-black void of his feral beast, his massive chest heaving violently beneath his silver-mesh armor as his dark scent of cedar and copper flared intensely, policing the pitch-black shadows of the vault.

I covered my head as pieces of stone rained around us. "Nira!" I knew that voice. It was so familiar. He burst through another entrance with Kael close behind him. Neither of them slowed. Kael's sword met the blade of a masked Council member with a sharp clang that echoed through the chamber. Sparks flew between them. It was the first time I saw him fight. Every strike forced the attacker backward. Another Council member lunged toward me, but Adrian intercepted him before he reached me. Their blades collided. The impact sent both of them sliding across the stone floor.

He stumbled back. “You… how do you know?” I answered only, my voice like frost. “Because, like you, I was reborn.” Panic tore through him. His eyes went wild, his mouth muttered the same words again and again. “No… no… impossible…” Not long after, the tribe found him dead at the edge of a ravine. The corpse of a lone wolf, rotting and forgotten. And I… I held William’s hand and walked toward our future. Under the rising blood moon he bent to my ear and whispered,

I suggested. "Look, Erika," he said to me, "no matter how you see it, we...Killian...and I, are just humans in the end. The intentions of a man can be sensed through his heartbeat. "That scar has to be fake! You just want me to be your scapegoat! You're jealous because Mom and Dad always loved me more, so now you're scheming to get me killed." Seeing Emma crying in his arms, Noah grabbed me by the hair and dragged me in front of her, forcing me to confess. "Anna, you were the killer, yet you have the nerve to frame Emma. You evil woman! Apologize to Emma! Maybe then I'll put in a good word with the cops!" Noah's grip was strong, causing my scalp to ache terribly, but it couldn't compare to the pain of being slashed to death in my previous life. I looked up at the two of them viciously, laughing in exasperation.

"One day, it could be you in the crosshairs. Not because of who you are. Because of who I am." She turned. The morning light cut him in two—half the man who'd buried his face in her shoulder last night, half the expressionless killer at the end of the hall. "What? One day you'll shoot me?" The color drained from his face. "I'd sooner put a bullet in my own head." His voice had dropped to something almost inaudible. He didn't finish the sentence. He didn't need to. Her tears fell. She didn't wipe them. She let him see.

Killian continued but this time, it felt like all the anger he felt was sucked out of him. He felt so drained and tired. "I knew what I did was wrong that's why I was the one who initiated the rescue mission for Yifa because I forced Amaya to tell me everything that she did and planned with the South," Black explained but he wasn't saying that to get Killian 's sympathy because he knew that what he did was unacceptable.
