“Hi, Mr. Johnson. I was just trying to get a cab, but none seem to be around. I decided to walk home.”
He frowned, and peered to look around. “It’s too late for you to be walking alone. Let me give you a ride.”
I hesitated, not wanting to bother him. “That’s kind of you, but I don’t want to trouble you again.”
“It’s no trouble at all,” he insisted, with a firm but gentle voice. “I know you're stubborn but please, get in. I’ll feel better knowing you got home safely.”
Seeing his genuine concern, I nodded and walked over to the passenger side. As I opened the door and slid into the seat, I felt a wave of gratitude. “Thank you, Mr. Johnson. I really do appreciate your kind gesture.”
