“Every Alpha King has paid for his mistake?” She looked deeply into the fire before answering calmly. “No.” The answer surprised me greatly. My head lifted suddenly. “No?” She slowly shook her head. “Every Alpha King inherited the debt from the past.” She paused thoughtfully. “But not every king awakened it during his reign.” A heavy knot formed inside my stomach. “I don’t understand at all.” Again she let silence stretch between us until it almost became unbearable. “The curse sleeps quietly.” I frowned in confusion. “It lives quietly inside the blood of every king born from Blackstone.”

Her hands clasp together nervously as if she's trying to find the strength to confront the disturbing reality in front of her. "I... I've never seen anything like this," she admits, her voice tinged with uncertainty. "Lycans are supposed to heal faster than werewolves. It doesn't make sense." Taking a deep breath, I reveal the truth that I've held close, the revelation that has become a heavy burden on my heart. "But he's not just any Lycan," I confess, my voice quivering with emotion. "He is the cursed Lycan King, the Lycan Lord of Chaos."

Anderson, then at Kingston, whose hot gaze hadn’t left her since she began speaking. “You’re not on my terms, and I’m not going to agree with yours. Do you have any ideas for finding common ground? " As he inspected her from top to bottom, his gaze shouted “many,” and she tried not to lose sight of the current situation. “I have other ways to collect my dues,” Kingston remarked, her gaze shifting from her to Bill, and the threat was evident. Bill’s grey eyes meet Faith’s, half annoyed, partly terrified that she may throw him under the bus. He’d told her that if they didn’t pay back, Alexander Kingston had contacts in the underworld. He’d actually be dead.

I heard the queen some days ago say something about a curse concerning the king. “Elina, I…” “The midnight curse… I'm sure you've heard of it,” the blonde man said advancing…he looked serious, and I shook my head, not knowing what a midnight curse was “Santi, let's not trouble Elina… I'm sure she's tired,” Miguel said as if trying to stop the man, but he ignored Miguel. “It's a curse the king has, it gets stronger and deadly at midnight… right now, it's getting worse because his time is almost up” the man went on and explained, hearing him I grew afraid. What did he mean by the alpha's time was up? Was he dying?

“How the fuck is this even possible…” “Simple,” the voice echoed beside me. “You want to break a kingdom, you don’t kill the king. You make him watch his queen suffer. That’s what this curse was designed for—torture through love.” I stepped closer to the Curse. It turned. A face formed in the bark-like mass—mocking, laughing. “You think you can devour me, little wolf?” it sneered. “I am born of hate, of centuries of pain. You are just—”

Those silver-red eyes when he'd moved closer to study her face and draw her scent. It was beginning to haunt her. Then, she remembered everything the world said about him. “THE KING OF FIRE. A CURSED MONSTER” “THE CONQUEROR OF NATIONS. ALSO KNOWN AS THE CURSED.” “HIS AGE DRAWS NEAR. HE MIGHT FALL FROM GLORY.” “LORD OF THE WERE-EARTH. A MONSTER TO MANY ENEMIES. HE IS CURSED.” The “cursed” ideology of him was never omitted in every mention of his name.

The King was injecting pure necrosis directly into Kaelen's jugular, accelerating the curse parked over his heart. Kaelen’s eyes went completely wide. The golden fire in them instantly snuffed out, replaced by a horrifying, cloudy gray. His broadsword slipped from his hands, clattering loudly against the obsidian floor. I didn't try to cut the King’s arm again. I dropped my swords, ignited both of my bare hands in blinding white-hot plasma, and slammed my fists directly into the True King’s chest. The smell of burning flesh and dark magic exploded in the sanctum.

“His sons. Their sons. Every Alpha born of his line.” Silence fell. Not the peaceful kind. The kind that presses on your ears until your thoughts grow too loud. “That’s impossible,” Damon said at last, though his voice wavered. “The curse is mine. It manifested in me, and I always believed it was just me.” The seer shook her head. “No,” she said. “It isn’t.” She turned her gaze to me then. “The curse was designed to awaken at the height of power. When an Alpha would be strongest. When the pack would depend on him most.”

It made the mark on my neck throb in a way that had nothing to do with Dante. I didn't know this man. I had heard of him like every wolf in every pack has heard of him. He's the Alpha King, ruthless. His own wolf is said to be cursed. "Why?" The word came out before I could stop it. Marshall’s eyebrow went up. "Why what, Luna Alba?" "Don't call me that. I'm no one’s Luna anymore." I straightened my spine, trying not to let my voice shake. "Why would the Alpha King care about an omega he’s never met before tonight?"
