CHAINS OF ETERNITY
Before them loomed the archway of stone, impossibly tall, and carved into its surface were four runes that glowed faintly with an inner fire.
Regret — black and weeping with a pale mist.
Fear — jagged, a blood-red sigil pulsing like a heartbeat.
Greed — golden, luminous, sharp enough to cut the eye.
Truth — cold and crystalline, its light like frozen starlight.
Each rune seemed to whisper directly into the soul of whoever looked at it.
Kael’s gaze lingered too long on Truth. He heard his own voice within his head, not the whispers, but something deeper: “Will you face what you are, or keep running?” His chest tightened, a dull pressure settling in his lungs.
