I heard Kirk's voice and turned to look again. "Would you like a drink?" Kirk offered Hope. "Sure," she said. "Help yourself," he said. There was a pitcher of a really fruity rum drink on the coffee table. I found out later that it was strong stuff, but it was so sweet that Hope didn't notice the alcohol. She poured a glass and took a tentative sip. She nodded her head and then drained half the glass. I raised my eyebrows at that—noticing that Kirk did the same thing. Kirk spoke up first, so I didn't have to say a word.

He'd better stay as far away as possible from Kirk, who was clearly having some mood swings. However, when he reached the door, Kirk said coldly, "Find a reliable person to take care of her." Charles replied, "Oh, okay, sir." Was he hearing things? Why did he hear a hint of jealousy in Kirk's tone?

' Ray smiled, but the expression quickly faded into seriousness. Kirk was still out there. And his ability was… troublesome. Not overwhelmingly powerful in direct combat, but incredibly hard to kill. Even after being killed once, he could revive somewhere else—he would need to be killed multiple times. Probably just a few times. Otherwise, that ability would be far too monstrous. Well, if he really couldn't be killed completely, then he'd just be imprisoned. Locked away until he died of old age. Ray resumed his search. With spatial perception spread out, everything within a ten-kilometer radius unfolded clearly in his mind.

Kirk's silver eyes darted around the room, taking in his surroundings with an unnerving intensity. His nostrils flared as he inhaled, processing the scents around him. When he spoke, his voice was rough and strained. "Water... I need water." Jazz fetched a glass of water while Paul and Leah helped Kirk sit up. He gulped down the water when Jazz handed it to him, droplets spilling down his chin. As he drank, the silver glow in his eyes faded, returning to their normal color.

I hoped Tyler had a plan to help Spock win his mom over. “Good luck with that,” Logan told him, as if he’d read my mind. “Have you taught him to play dead yet?” Tyler shook his head. “I hadn't thought of that one.” Logan grinned. “His name's Spock, right? From Star Trek?” Tyler nodded enthusiastically. “Then, here's what we're going to teach him...” Logan leaned forward and started whispering in Tyler's ear. I stood back and watched as a grin slowly overtook Tyler’s face. Whatever Logan's idea was, Tyler loved it.
