Then everything went black as I was shrouded in the shadows of goodbye to all that I had ever known. After what must have been hours later, I awoke in an unfamiliar place. Fog surrounds me as hooded figures chant in a strange language. I try to move but I can't because my arms and legs are tied to a boulder with weird cravings in it. I try to scream but my voice comes out as a mere whisper. Shadows dance on the walls of this desolate cave before the ground begins to shake. The hooded figures fall to their knees and keep their eyes on the trembling ground.

The Great Mother has decreed this herself. Feeling herself, being pulled away from her sister witches, by a force greater than any of them, Clarissa stepped into the void. The time of her rebirth, was at hand. With every step she took, she found herself forgetting more and more of the life she just left behind. Who was she? Who were the two women who just spoke to her? Why was the all encompassing darkness she found herself in, so soothing and peaceful? There were others with her in there, but she could see none of them. She heard their voices, speaking in hushed whispers as she passed and every now and then, one would dare to lightly brush past her.

“I want to be here with you, all of you the shadows even.” Blair's heart raced as he bent in close, his lips almost brushing. Sharing that gasping moment helped her to feel the world around them full of opportunity and also the deep inside fleeing farther into the past. Kade was right; they could welcome together both the light and the shadows. However, a sudden cold swept through the air still pulling them apart just as their lips brushed in a soft kiss. Lyra's voice sneering and dark, her laughter reverberated from the shadows. "You believe you can get away from me so easily?"

By the time Willow managed to shove Roy into the car, she had worked up quite a sweat. The car cruised down a dark, empty mountain road. The absence of streetlights gave the illusion of being in the middle of nowhere. Roy leaned in for a kiss, and Willow, while sitting upright, let out a startled yelp when Roy suckled her earlobe. He really got into it and anchored her hand, his body pressing down on hers. “Uh, don’t….” Willow murmured, her eyes darting to the front in a flurry. Without pausing, Roy tapped on the privacy partition behind him, and the car pulled up at the side of the road.

I looked up, and he bent down and took me in a head-spinning kiss. When we pulled away, Shadow continued taking off his pants. He was gloriously naked in front of me with the soft flicker of my tiny lights surrounding him. The lights reflected in a way that made him seem like a powerful force that I wouldn’t want to meet in an alley somewhere. But the look of pure adoration and love further proved that I had nothing to fear from him.

Proof that shadows were closing in. I leaned into Victor’s chest, his arms wrapping around me like armor. “Promise me,” I whispered. “Promise you won’t let this destroy Elysium.” He pressed a kiss to my temple, fierce and reverent. “I promise. But understand, Cassie—whoever dared to touch you like this… they’ve already declared war.” And in that moment, with Victor’s heartbeat thundering beneath my ear and the photos burning a hole in my thoughts, I realized something terrifying.

I called out, I walked out into the shadows, I still could not go to the little pool, there was a hint of light yet. She jumped, turning to look at me, her face instantly turning red. I smirked, I wanted to go to her, she was in the shade, and I could, but I need her to come to me. She glanced up, “It’s not dark yet.” “I couldn’t wait,” I replied. “Trees offer good shade.” There has been times when I’m tracked targets, and needed to hide from the sun. Forest provided good coverage. Her breathing paused. “You really didn’t want to see me again?”

The morning light filtered weakly through the curtains, casting fractured patterns on the floor — much like my thoughts, splintered and jagged. I sat at the small kitchen table, clutching my cup of cold coffee, staring at the leather-bound book *Reflections of the Forgotten* open before me. The stories inside weren’t just tales — they were warnings, lessons written in sorrow and hope. Women who had lived as shadows, trapped in lives borrowed from others, fighting to reclaim their own reflections.

Kai whispered. Ethan tried to stand his legs shook then he collapsed completely he passed out “kai…” he whispered then nothing “they’re there!” lights shined on them officers ran closer “don’t move!” kai slowly raised his hands tears fell down his face “I’m here,” he whispered to ethan the officers surrounded them one stepped forward then stopped confused he looked past kai into the trees a deep sound filled the air heavy not a machine not people something else branches broke slow loud coming closer the officers turned “What is that?” The ground felt like it was shaking closer closer kai held ethan tighter then someone stepped out of the darkness tall still watching not a soldier not one of
