I take a slow sip of my water and return my attention to the computer.
“Yes, ma’am,” Bonnie finally says before exiting.
The door closes.
Diana turns to me but says nothing.
After a minute, I look up. “You’re staring, darling.”
“Are you going to tell me how to arrange this,” she asks coolly, lifting the files, “or should I go back to my book?”
I lean back in my chair, studying her. “Are you jealous, Diana?”
“Of your secretary?” Her tone is calm, but there’s disappointment beneath it—controlled, deliberate. “No.”
