Seraphina's vehicle moved smoothly along the route, passing the first checkpoint, then the second. Then, on the screen, I saw it. Two vehicles blocking the road ahead—construction barriers that shouldn't have been there. “Archer, stop!” I barked into the comm. “That's the trap!” But even as Archer hit the brakes, wolves emerged from the forest on both sides of the road. Twelve, maybe fifteen of them. All shifting, all attacking. “Ambush! All units converge!” Marcus shouted orders. On screen, I watched helplessly as battle erupted. Archer and the warriors shifted immediately, protecting Seraphina's vehicle. Callista and Alex's SUV rammed into one of the blocking vehicles, clearing the path.

“This isn’t over, Raymond. You may have freed her, but you’ve made an enemy you cannot defeat.” My fists clenched weakly at my sides. “Come for me, Ethan,” I rasped. “I’ll be waiting.” As I lay there beneath the crimson moon, pain tearing through me, I knew one thing with absolute certainty. This battle was only the beginning. And when Ethan came for us, I would be ready.
