I was determined to make a statement tonight, to showcase my personality and uniqueness through not just my hairstyle but also my clothes. With a sense of determination, I rummaged through my overflowing closet, searching for something that would perfectly complement my box braids. Clothes flew in all directions as I desperately sought the right combination. Just as hope was beginning to wane, my determined hands landed on a black crop top hidden behind a row of dresses. “Brush.” “Detangler.” “Moisturizer.” “Shampoo and conditioner.” “Grease.” I grabbed two of each. “Hair gel.” I grabbed the largest tub. “Spray gel and mousse.” I grabbed the biggest too. “Silk bonnets and scarves.” I grabbed a handful of the sealed packets. “Do you have any hair ties?” “Yeah.” I grabbed huge bags of cotton, silk and regular hair ties. “Do you by any chance have small gift baskets? Something I can present this in.”

I wanted boots though, but this would do. The maids help my dress. Since the makeup was already done, one of them frees my hair of its tight knot and braids it in side parts around my head, little chains of platinum braided with them.
