As he screams out, I drive the dagger into his chest and he falls to the ground. In general, rogues are weaker than wolves that belong to a pack. They don't have the strength that comes from the unity of being in a pack. Wolves are social creatures, and their wolves weaken significantly without that bond to an Alpha. Many rogues are on their own for years before they join other rogues, so they weaken a great deal. However, just because these rogues are weaker, they have the upper hand right now. With just four more to go, I can feel my body becoming sluggish. All my energy sources have been depleted in the last five weeks and I'm just running on pure adrenaline at this point.

The first rogue lunged at me with his claws extended, aiming for my chest. I ducked low, grabbed his wrist, and twisted hard. He growled in pain, but the second one was already behind me. I turned just in time, raising my arm as claws raked down it. Pain flared, but I didn’t let it stop me. I slammed my elbow into his face, sending him stumbling back. The first rogue recovered quickly and came at me again. I caught his arm, pulled him forward, and drove my knee into his gut. He doubled over, staggering, wheezing, and I followed it with a hard punch to his jaw. He dropped.

She warned as she leaped over a rogue heading her way, gripping her canines around its neck in her leap. Roman ducked as another rogue attempted to jump for his neck, before fixating his jaw around its abdomen and ripping out a deadly chunk. “You wouldn’t dare.” He challenged his wife. Kane, Mace and Axel led their group directly into the centre of the madness, ruthlessly leaving a trail of heads in their wake. They had one goal, anything else was collateral damage. One particularly boisterous rogue threw its body weight against Kane, causing the pair to roll against the ground tangled in attempts to gain an advantageous bite against the other.

Nolan appeared in front of Seara. His movements were different from Austin's, smooth, precise, deadly. He grabbed the Rogue's wrist, twisting it. The sound of breaking bones. Seara winced at the sound. She cringed and bent over, not wanting to look. In one elegant movement, Nolan slashed his claws across the Rogue's chest, leaving an open wound that made Seara cover her face. It was all over in seconds. Nolan turned around. His expensive suit was clean, almost without a trace of blood. He straightened his collar before approaching Seara's ear.

Every jab, every strike, was precise—controlled. One of the rogues transformed partially, claws forming as he slashed at the guy’s direction, he twisted away just in time but the claw caught his shirt, ripping it. “Is that all you’ve got?” he taunted. He ducked a claw, landing a few jabs on the rogue's ribs before placing his hand on its head and slamming its head against a tree. He spun the stick around once with a satisfying twist then stared down at the second rogue. Then in seconds, he rushed at it, knocking it off its knees.

I was a Silver-Bane who had chosen a Rogue. Suddenly, a loud banging started on the door. It was so violent the wood seemed to shake. "Open up!" It was Julian’s voice. He sounded drunk, angry, and desperate. "I know you're in there, Lucian! I know you have my wife! You can't hide her forever!" Lucian’s face hardened. The soft moment was gone. He looked like the rogue Alpha again. He walked to the door and flung it open with a bang. Julian was standing there, his tuxedo shirt unbuttoned, his hair a mess. He looked like a wreck. Behind him stood two of the High Alpha’s personal guards—men with stone faces and silver weapons.

I had to win, because the alternative was watching two Rogues maul Ronan. The Rogue shifted to human form and jumped at me. I dropped my shoulder and grabbed his extended arm. I twisted just as I had practiced with Jordan and Marcus. The Rogue went flying into a nearby tree trunk. I rushed forward, and slashed at him with my knife. I didn’t think I could bring myself to kill him, but I could surely hurt him. He got an arm up fast, and my knife scored a long, red line along his arm. “Little bitch!” he yelled.
