I asked as he led me through a dense thicket of businessmen I didn’t recognize. “Inaba.” That’s what the bald guard with the iPad had said, and that’s what Connor’s father had called him back in Las Vegas – but being here in the Dubai triggered another, older memory… “When we first met, didn’t you say your last name was something like ‘Shoot’?” “Shuto. Good memory. It’s a joke – it’s Japanese for ‘knife.’ Connor calls me that… like ‘Mac the Knife.’ Johnny Shuto.” “Oh,” I nodded. “That’s cool…”

“Hmmm… you lied to me when you said Dillon likes colorful things, right?” Lilac gasped. “Of course not. Dillon likes colorful things. That’s his biggest secret,” she let out a soft chuckle, “… and you made one for him.” Emily sighed. “Yeah, but I just saw that he’s not using it—” “Oh, that one. Well, maybe he doesn’t want to show it in public. You know… Dillon is the Beta of the strongest pack in the country. They’ve known him as fierce Beta—a superior one like the Alpha. He will be a laughing stock if he will wear the bonnet as he takes his duties.”

Ergh, I spat the dry powder onto the floor – gleaming crimson – what the fuck? I glanced up at him, he stood there leering at me, as if waiting for me to realise something. He’s a lunatic. I reached up to wipe the powder from my face. At least I tried to. My arm refused to move. My body refused to respond to my brain signals. Fuck. “Not so disparaging now are you Lille Konge?” He sneered My eyes flicked to him. Contemptuous bastard. "Jequirity bean.”

A scowl replaced his smile. “It’s nice to see you both bonding.” Scratching the side of his lips, "Congratulations. But I'm sorry to break your hearts. This nonsense between both of you ends now. It pains me that I have to kill you so fast, so my coronation can go ahead. Sorry, Brother.” The beast chuckled in amusement, his grip on me behind him harden. “You are a coward, Vogar. How were you born before me when you can’t even stand me in a battle? You had to bring the whole fucking pack here.”

I stop and mirror his motions, accepting his offer to shake, liking him in spite of myself. Again, he flashes that smile that probably makes the panties drop, but not mine. “My name's Konan Dark. It's a pleasure to meet you.” “Bella Paige and likewise.” Honestly, if I wasn't jonesing after Troy, there's a chance that I'd give this guy the date he’s asking for. “Have a lovely walk, Miss Paige.” With that, he saunters off, strolling along as he starts to whistle a familiar song... one I like.

He sighs, then continues. “You are familiar with the death match. A figure returning from the wings of Blackridge and stepping into the IFC to fight the world champion. Konan the Destroyer’s return is highly anticipated, and here lies my problem, no one knows yet, but poor Konan died on an operating table not long after his last match.” “So what does that got to do with me?” “Anyone can wear Konan’s mask, but not everyone can fight like him. We have Linton as a worthy opponent, but only Konan could truly face off with the current IFC champion. He has prison cred, an

He whispered, eyes cast far away. Rey blinked in surprise; she wanted to ask more but figured it would be too painful to talk about, so she held back. "Unlike other Lycans, silver isn't fatal to us; nothing is..." he trailed off, eyes snapping to hers. "Except one poison," "Kronuvitch." ***

She had somehow managed to disappear into his closet and emerge wearing one of his white shirts. It reached halfway down her thighs. Her dried hair was pushed over one shoulder. Kane stopped. Mona glanced at him. Her eyes immediately brightened. "I'll call you later. Bye." She ended the call. Kane folded his arms. She pointed toward the kitchen. "Adam made ramen." Kane glanced over. Two bowls sat on the counter, steam curling into the air. Adam had added soft-boiled eggs, green onions, mushrooms, and slices of meat.

Don Torento raised an eyebrow, Amanda looked away from him quickly, she wanted to slam her palm on her forehead for saying something stupid. Don Torento was looking at her like he wanted to tear her limbs to limbs, she gulped. "S—sorry, I say stupid things sometimes."

Then I hurried to Kuroyuki, who was maintain the wall from the silhouettes. "Kuroyuki— is that what I think it is…?" I asked. "…They— are us," Kuroyuki answered. The silhouettes are August (sword silhouette), Blaze (armbar silhouette), Kuroyuki (spear silhouette), Persia (black card silhouette), Rumelia (black string silhouette) and Kronos (black bullets silhouette). "They are one person short— so it's me who's not in there, huh. What is the meaning of this…?"
