My fingers twitched slightly in my lap.
Delicacy.
That was a word I had only ever heard people say, but didn't know what it meant.
“And this,” she continued, lifting the lid of a smaller, intricately designed bowl, “is lotus root soup, simmered with bone broth and rare medicinal herbs. It will help replenish your blood.”
I lowered my gaze slightly, but she continued without pause.
“These fruits,” she gestured toward a golden platter, “are imported from beyond the western seas. Sunberries, crystal pears, and frost grapes. They are rarely seen outside the royal palace.”
