“It has been… three weeks since my last confession.”
His voice came through the screen, low, calm, familiar.
“Go on, child.”
She swallowed.
“I’ve had… impure thoughts.” Her face burned. “About a man. About… what I want him to do to me. I touch myself thinking about it. I can’t stop.”
Silence on the other side.
Then the latch clicked.
The door to her side of the confessional opened.
Father Michael stood there, black shirt unbuttoned at the throat, sleeves rolled to his forearms, eyes dark and unreadable.
