Red’s POV The restaurant was breathtaking. The interior was beautiful, elegant, and cozy. Large, luxurious chandeliers hung from the ceiling, adding to the charm. I felt a little self-conscious as I still hadn't changed and was in my school uniform. I ordered ricotta and parmesan gnudi with a glass of white wine, and Crow had a Florentine steak and champagne. We ate in uncomfortable silence, neither of us wanting to be the first to speak. We’d steal awkward glances at each other every so often, both waiting for the other to break it. The unspoken tension was high.

Her beautiful, skeptical eyes connected with his. Chase covered her hand with his on his stomach. “I’m not bein’ a tough guy to impress you, Ava. I get the shit beat outta me by bulls on a weekly basis, so I’ve usually got pain one place or another.” He stepped back. “You hungry?” “Yes, and please tell me you’ve got a real restaurant in mind and not just a stop at the Qwickie Mart for more sunflower seeds and licorice.” He grinned. “There’s a glimpse of that snooty California girl, but as a matter of fact, I’ve heard about this supper club called Steak’n a Claim.”

She shook her head while still laughing. “And, what can you not believe–” I stopped talking after she placed three large paper bags in front of me. The name of the restaurant caught my attention. Matthew’s restaurant. I knew the brand and the name of this restaurant. This restaurant is hugely famous everywhere, every country. It’s hard to book a reservation at this restaurant and many people come from other countries just to eat at this restaurant. “Conrad ordered me to put food in his fridge for one week, then after one week he said I should bring it back,” this woman lowered the paper bag. “Now, I know.”

“Hey, Noah? You got a second?” “Yeah?” “I know you’re heading over to St. Joseph Island for work, but, shit, I can’t get in contact with any of your brothers.” Noah felt his stomach knotting in dread at the sound of Connor’s tense voice. “What happened?” “Look, this might not be anything serious, but you know that fancy restaurant, The BlueSky, the one we have at the Weston Hotel where I work?” “Yeah?” Noah asked, coming to a stop right in the middle of the aisle in the bus.

“I know a place. Why don’t we go have dinner tonight? My treat.” Andrius shook his head. “I don’t have time later. I’m going to Roman Restaurant on the Hidari Coast.” Fatty Frank was stunned when he heard the name. His eyes widened in shock and stared at Andrius. “Boss, where did you say you were going again?” “Roman Restaurant on the Hidari Coast,” Andrius repeated. “Boss, you’re going there with another woman? Aren’t you afraid that Luna will be mad?” “It’s just a meal.”

“We’re leaving. I didn’t know they needed a reservation here. I mean, Carterville is a small city… why would -” “Our table is for four,” I cut him, offering my hand to Jessamine. “I’d love you to meet Sasha.” “Oh!” Her face was red again, tilting her head to glance at Sasha, who stood up and walked toward us. “But -” Jessamine blinked as she stared at my secretary. I wished I could read what was running through her mind. She wrinkled her nose and then forced a smile as she glanced at Derek. Derek looked pale, clearing his throat first before speaking. “It’s okay. For sure, there’s another restaurant around this place -”

“Dream, by Bishop Briggs. I turn to the window, in order to escape one more of his gazes. And that works, since soon silence reigns and we only hear the background music. The same one that brought up an unrelated subject and that again made me confused about Kaanadan. A born bipolar... Soon we arrived. The car stopped in front of a large restaurant, which had its name in Portuguese. This piqued my curiosity and as soon as Kaanadan left I did the same, closing the door behind me and turning towards the restaurant in a clearly historic building. I was surprised when Kaanadan linked our hands and followed, leading me behind him. I ignored this fact, which incidentally gave me a huge butterflies

I turned off the radio and went out. "Good afternoon, Miss Fatima," PO2 Lopez greeted me when I am already near them. "Good afternoon," I greeted them back. "We already have leads about the sabotage case in your restaurant," he added. "Good. We better talk here inside. It is much comfortable there." I open the locked restaurant and the police officers enter. I closed the door of the restaurant and locked it from the insifevto assure that no one can enter without my permission and that no one will hear our conversation. Again, it is too confidential.

His brain was working. After a while, he asked, " What about the men we lost?" I blew smoke, staring out the window. " We'll talk about it later. I've got so much on my mind already." I just didn't want to end up saying anything stupid. Knife was already suspicious. I can't let him grow more suspicious. Finally we arrived at BISTROS. It was an exclusive Italian restaurant. When I said exclusive, I meant really exclusive. They have guests whom are only allowed into the restaurant.

“Ledger titled: Men who remember to feed other people’s children.” Vince’s mouth made a small shape that might have been a smile if he’d let it. “Good ledger.” Evening arrived with its velvet mane. Mazzo had moved lunch to dinner, which made secrecy easier and everything else harder. The restaurant knew them. The host did the smile used for patrons who could crush you with a phone call and chose not to. Banquettes, low lamps, jazz brushed soft. A room built to hold confidences and make them sound like conversation.
