Carllo, are you listening to me?" Carllo's loud voice sounds real scared now. "Lanka? What are you seeing in that box? Do not scare me like this, buddy."

Isabella walked up to him hand in hand with Matteo. Inside the chest were dozens of papers and sketchbooks. He lifted the first one and opened the page, in it was a drawing of a young boy standing under the stars and on the second page, was the same boy though older now on his teenage years. And on the third page was a man now. The drawing now more detailed and precise was a man. Lorenzo. The room fell silent. He turned the pages faster and saw more drawings. The ones that had him training in them, him standing under the rain at Dante’s funeral.

As she pulled it free, a folded piece of parchment, brittle with age, fluttered to the floor. She bent to pick it up. It was a child’s drawing, done in clumsy charcoal. A stick-figure woman and a smaller stick-figure girl holding hands under a lopsided sun. At the bottom, in a child’s uncertain script: Me and Mama. Luna. A memory, sweet and terrible, lanced through her—a moment of stolen peace before the world had taught her its harsh taxonomy.

Logan just needed some time to himself. I headed to my room and found Lorena on the bed with Kaya. They were looking at some pictures that Kaya had drawn and Kaya had a big smile on her face. I couldn’t help but break into a smile as well. They finally looked up at me and Kaya beamed at me with a big grin on her face. “Miss Hazel!” She left Lorena and ran towards me. I hugged her back and she quickly ran to get her coloring book. “I drew you and Miss Lorena.”

The following morning, Leo sat alone in the sanctuary garden. A piece of charcoal in his hand. A blank sheet of parchment before him. He wasn't thinking. Wasn't planning. Wasn't trying. His hand simply moved. Stroke after stroke. Line after line. Until a face appeared. Dark hair. Strong jaw. Golden eyes. A scar across one cheek. Perfectly detailed. Perfectly accurate. Leo stared at the drawing in confusion. Then looked up as footsteps approached. Mira stopped beside him. Saw the portrait. And dropped the prophecy book.

Aurora looked at the page. "About your father?" Aurora asked quietly. Lily pulled the notebook back across the table. She shook her dark head firmly. The child pressed the pencil to the paper again. About all of it, Lily wrote. She turned the notebook around again. "I think I know most of it," Aurora whispered. Lily did not smile. The child reached out and flipped backward through the filled pages. She stopped at the specific drawing from several weeks ago. It was the detailed picture of the three figures standing together in the farmhouse kitchen. Daddy. Rora. Lily. Aurora stared at it.

As I bent down to pick it up, I realised it had fallen open to a specific page. The illustration staring back at me held me in place like a beast with its claws in my chest. It was a drawing of a monster with long, dried-up black hair, claw-like nails, and prominent fangs. Below the drawing was a single red drop of blood, as if it were dripping from the fangs. I narrowed my eyes, trying to decipher the ancient, jagged writing that surrounded the drawing:

There was a carving of a wolf and a baby and another with a wolf and a little girl and the last one she was still working on had a wolf and a young lady, if looked closely you would see that these drawings looked alike in appearance both the girls and the wolves. “ you drew all these?” “Yea, h I can't remember where I learned how to nor where I saw these images” I took the drawings and stared at them for a while and realized it was a trilogy, the different stages of both their lives like they were growing together.
