I increased the pace I was running, which wasn't as much as I thought—until finally, I burst out of the caves.
On the floor, to the corner just at the mouth of the cave, a woman lay. Her chest was still rising and falling, which meant she was alive.
I didn't know her, and there was no reason why anyone I knew should be in a place like this at this hour. But that did not mean I wasn't going to try and wake her up.
"Hey, hey, wake up." I shook her frantically. When she didn't budge, I noticed there was blood running down the side of her head.
