The Wolf's Game
“One way or another, and you will make the same decision you always do.”
I roll my shoulders back and clench my teeth together. I toss my hair off my shoulder and show her the mark that glitters on my neck. It might have been a dream, but the mark remained.
“Things are different this time,” I laugh coldly. “Can’t you feel it?”
She doesn’t snarl or roar in my direction. Instead, she vanishes. The chamber implodes into light, and the Labyrinth disappears.
I collapse to my knees on cold stone, gasping for air, heart hammering with truth and terror and resolve.
