I disappeared into the forest before they could respond, moving fast and silent toward the stone circle. My enhanced senses were on full alert, scanning for any sign of danger, any indication this was a trap.
The stone circle was ancient, predating any of the current packs. Twelve massive stones arranged in a perfect circle, covered in moss and lichen. Moonlight filtered through the trees, making the clearing almost ethereal.
And in the center, waiting patiently, was a woman.
She was tall, probably in her mid-forties, with dark hair streaked with silver. She wore simple clothes, leather pants and a worn jacke
