Chapter 11 Hannah's POV ​"Mateo has always had a flair for the dramatic," Luke said, his voice flat and professional. The "Hannah" he had whispered moments ago was gone, replaced by the chilling distance of a man who owned the air I breathed. "He mistakes a lapse in my medical recovery for some sort of poetic tragedy. It’s a common error for those who don't have to carry the weight of this company." ​I felt the air leave my lungs. "A lapse? Is that all I am to you, Mr. Cromwell? A glitch in your system?"

And I ruined everything. Santo slides his hand over my elbow and pulls me toward the elevators again. He angrily presses the call button and turns to me. His voice has dropped a tone, and I can hear a hint of remorse in it. "Stop crying. It is too late for all that. Do you think I enjoy having to go out and get you? Do you think I get off on seeing you cry or tremble in front of me? Pezzo di merda... (Holy shit*)."

Previously, I felt betrayed and hurt. The man who I thought I owed my life had now turned out to be the one ruining it. That thought made the pain worse. "The beautiful love which I felt from you has completely disappeared, Jihun. It completely has!" He chuckled darkly hearing me and with a smirk he stated, " Most things that disappear are beautiful! “Hello! Hello, Babi are you there? What happened?” “Babi speak what is happening? I am worried!” I couldn’t say a word but I started crying. I cried and cried so hard till I was sobbing. But after that, he didn’t say a single word and hung up the call. I was more heartbroken when he hung up. I build up so much courage to call him and he just hung up. How can he do that? Tears couldn’t stop rolling in my eyes. Cell phone dropped from my hand overground.

My heart flutters with recognition as a familiar voice speaks quietly to my soul. “Zander! Please, come back to me. I need you, we need you." Liberty's gentle words echo through the empty void, her voice filled with desperation and sorrow. I try to respond, to let her know that I am here, that I will never leave her side, but no sound can escape my lips and I feel utterly helpless. Ava's POV: I picked out a thick leather bound book from the shelf. Its black rough surface was covered with dust. Wiping it with my palm, I looked at the title. Senex Animarum. Once again, I felt the frustration gripping my insides. Every single book in this place was filled with a language I didn't know. I should've taken French this semester. But this language looked nowhere near French. I opened the book and looked at the worn out dust-filled pages. There were diagrams. And foreign words.
