Bella sits up, blinking, and then the urgency hits her. “Liam,” she says, half plea, half curse. She stumbles, ignores the dizziness, and lurches to the crater’s edge.
They all look down. The spiral is still there, burning with faint, wounded light. In the center of the spiral, a shape is stirring—a mass of black and gold scales, battered and smaller than before, but unmistakably alive. Zayla’s breath catches. “He’s not dead.”
