The Luna's Tattoos
My pulse kicked and as quickly and lightly as I could I crept down, each step creaking soft, my breath held as I rounded the corner.
The kitchen sprawled ahead warm and bright, and in the middle of it stood Nana, her gray curls pinned loose, her apron dusted white, she was flipping a pancake on the griddle. Relief hit me fast and sweet and I grinned, my feet slapping the tiles as I bolted forward, my arms flinging around her. Her warmth sank in soft and familiar, her lavender scent wrapping me up.
“Easy, Luna, you’re gonna snap me in half!” she laughed, her voice rich, her hands patting my back, the spatula dangling from her fingers.
