It was Mathew, who answered, his voice breaking in and out. “Let me search your packhouse,” Lana said, interrupting the heated exchange. With the sudden change in her hair color and eyes, she startled Alpha Jasper and Mathew, including Leslie, and the rest of the warriors of the Cross River Pack. Cold air suddenly surrounded the packhouse, and Lana’s hands were up in the air, her voice, echoing throughout the open space, all while she chanted a few words. The winds formed into thick mist and it seemed to flow in and out of every opening at the packhouse.

After her meal, she paid and Left the Hotel. She waited outside for a Cab. After a while, she entered one and went straight to Li's Headquarters. Glancing at the humongous building with a boldly and vigorously written plaque on the front. Lana made her way to the double glass doors, as they opened the moment she stepped closer. She walked past the doors to the reception. "Hello, how can I help you?" The redhead receptionist asked with a bored expression. "I'm here to see, Daniel Li. Please can you direct me to his office?" Her voice hi calm and mellow as she inquired.

I splashed it again and again as if I could wash away the nightmare. Regaining some semblance of reasoning I stopped then stared at the pale reflection in the mirror. I couldn't shake this one off, it felt too real to just push aside. Bang bang! A knock came abruptly. I guessed it was Lana so I let her in. “Good morning Luna,” she greeted with a bow. Maybe I didn't need to go back to town to get the answers I needed. “Lana I need a favor,” “Anything for you my lady,” she said, her brown eyes curious.

I was feeling defiant. Looking Landon in the eye, I tug the line hooking me to the IV, and pull the line out cleanly. He didn’t look impressed. A low growl erupted from his chest. I had pissed him off. Did I care? No. “I’m not waiting around all day,” I say by way of an explanation. “I want to go.” My own voice was near enough a growl back. Making it clear I would not be bullied by him, beta or not. I was after all a Luna in my own right, and a Queen on top of that. I refused to be told what to do by him. “We’re leaving.”

‘Perhaps we should shift first,’ Queen Lana mind linked the pack before shifting, the rest following her, all howling again, forming a circle around her. By midnight it was clear that princess Anse will not be shifting tonight. Embarrassed, she ran back into the castle, straight to her room. ‘You all enjoy your evening I will go after her,’ Queen Lana mind linked the pack before picking up her robe in her mouth and running into the castle. I want to go to the Moon Council and check something out in their library and maybe speak with the moon Goddess,” he stated firmly, and I told him to go for it as I leaned back into the cushion. He disappeared, leaving me. “What is going on, Lana? “ I sighed, wanting answers. “I don't know, but it seems that the pup gets irritated in the presence of Dante,” she snickered. “Thanks, Captain Obvious,” I mumbled.

Elita Someone clicks their tongue, mocking the condition I am in. I sigh and open my eyes, only to see the vast darkness surrounding me. It’s so cold here. If I was alive, I would have died just trying to endure the drop in temperature. “ What do you want now, Lana? ” I ask, shifting to my side, to rest the side of my face on my arm. Lana’s familiar face is peeking back at me. She is still wearing a white dress, and it makes her blonde hair appear so shiny and golden.

Princess Lamea lifted a strand of hair that staid on her face and guided her to a huge solid gold double door. They sure have an abundance of gold in this place. But Luna does not want to rest. She wants to know more about her father. And she has a lot of questions still left unanswered. As if reading her thoughts, Princess Lamea added. “Tomorrow. Tomorrow I will tell you all that I know about you and our father." Luna's brows furrowed, she never said her thoughts aloud. Then, why does it seem like Princess Lamea can hear them? She almost tripped in her own toes when she heard the princess’s next statement.

Slipping out of the room, I made my way toward the garden, my feet carrying me quickly down the hallway and out into the fresh air. The garden was bathed in morning light, the sky clear and bright. A few pack members were scattered around. They were chatting quietly. I took a deep breath, trying to calm myself as the cool air filled my lungs. I felt some of the tension leave my shoulders, but the questions in my mind still swirled with an intensity I couldn’t ignore. “Luna,” a voice broke through my thoughts. I turned to see a young woman, one of the pack members, bowing respectfully. “Is there anything we can do for you?”

I’m so sorry, my Queen,” Amara whispered as she stepped into Luna Anita’s chambers. The air was heavy with tension. Luna Anita, seated in her high-backed chair, turned her cold, unreadable gaze on the girl standing before her. Amara trembled under her scrutiny, her heart racing with guilt and fear. For a moment, Luna Anita simply studied her. It struck her then—she hadn’t truly taken the time to look at Amara, the girl she’d taken in as an infant. Now standing before her was not the child she had raised, but a young woman of remarkable beauty.
