"This is Alder, home of Pack Liem." We continued our walk through the town in silence. I noted once again the soothing calm within me in Tor's presence. In all my years practicing magic, I had never felt anything quite like it before. Before I knew it, we had made it to the front steps of Tor's manner. It was a beautiful granite stone structure with tall chimneys and multiple balconies adorned with ivy that stretched its flower-covered fingers around its stones.

What I saw there shocked me. Not only did the kingdoms once have much more land–it appeared that, at some point throughout the centuries, Abernathy had been claiming more and more territory for itself–the map highlighted the places throughout the kingdoms where the magic in the land was the strongest, with the place with the highest magical concentration being the Dragon’s Teeth mountains. The second-highest concentration of magic was gathered in a tiny village near the Fresonian coast, not terribly far from Carnea. For a brief moment, I wondered why this little area was so uniquely powerful, when it hit me.

Six Months Later The Dark Lands didn’t exist anymore. After Melissa’s death, the shadow magic that had kept the realm separate from the normal world began to fade. The purple sky turned blue. Real sunlight broke through the clouds. Plants that had been twisted and wrong started growing normally. Animals that had been corrupted by shadow magic either died or returned to their natural forms.

I stood up, backing into the shadows behind me, and instantly the Nightmare Eyes surged forward, looking for me. It's the first thing I've done anything besides destroying one of them, so they had to watch me do it, which is exactly what I wanted. My illusions come from my imagination, an ability a lot like the long last nightmare Lord Imagery. Except for mine can't come to life. That doesn't matter, though. If people think they are real, then they're real when they see them. I let my eyes flutter Closed imagining that the structure I was standing on shifted to the opposite side.
