“That was smart.” “It’s just the beginning,” I replied. That was only the first crack. Very soon, the entire structure would collapse. Caleb suddenly straightened. “Oh right,” he muttered before reaching inside his coat. My eyes followed his movement curiously until he pulled out an old book wrapped carefully in dark cloth. Immediately, my heartbeat quickened because I recognized the book without even trying. “The Book of Life,” I whispered. Caleb nodded slowly. Josephine’s eyes widened in shock. “You actually brought it here?”

He led the way, taking a torch off the wall, and the three of them walked through the opening and down an ancient, stone stairwell, twisting into the blackness. They finally reached the lowest levels, and continued down a corridor, barely lit by the torch. Finally, they reached a room. In it was a single object: a golden stand, on which sat a huge, ancient Bible. The ancient book must have been two feet wide and long, covered in an ornate casing of silver and gold. The three of them crowded over it. As Caitlin stared, she could feel the scroll heating up in her pocket, and she knew, she just knew, that this was the book from which the page was torn.

“Fascinated by religious texts, my dear?” Lyda closed the book, and Adea could see the design of the cover, which boasted an intricate cross shape just above the words, Holy Bible. She did know what kind of book it was, but she was alarmed nonetheless by the woman’s mention of religious texts. Adea had a bad feeling in her gut that Lyda was trying to pursue her obsession further. “What is this book?” Lyda asked. The elderly woman stared at it in silence for a moment as if trying to find the right words to describe it. “Well, I would say it’s a collective of religious and allegorical texts recounting the long history of Outside culture and the deities they worshiped.”

This was one of the places I found my peace. My gaze flickered to the guy in grey suit on the chair beside mine, as he flipped through his bible to find Matthew 26:52. Even after the pastor had gone on to another verse, he didn't seem to be impatient. He continued flipping pages after pages, as slowly as a snail. It was obvious he didn't know Matthew was the first book in the New testament. My lips twitched, itching for a smile. "Marco, Matthew is the first book in the new testament."

It was Gabriel who moved first, yet even that was cautious, restrained, as if the floor itself might object. “You’re saying,” Gabriel began, then stopped. He exhaled and tried again. “You’re saying even he couldn’t—” “Yes.” Zadkiel inserted quietly. “I’m saying there is no record of anyone ever doing so after him. No success for we were the only ones who knew this book exist. Not even the Levites in the Levite Garden." Lucifer's eyes narrowed, not in anger, but in focus. "A closed system," he muttered. "Perfectly inert. Perfectly present."

"We will research the hell out of him." I say laughing at my own corny joke, "We will also ask the original bible some questions." I frown "What does Mary mean by Original Bible?" I ask Gabriel "Well luv, there was the original manuscript that told things as it happened to the scripters, then some men decided if humankind were to find out what truly happened no one would convert to Christia

Mylan asked grabbing Ula by the shoulders so she could look into her face. “The Ocean God, he’s coming for me. He's looking for the book, but I can't let him take it. If we don't get everyone out of here now, you all will die.” Ula said, as she tried to stay focus. Mylan dropped her hands and just stare at Ula, she couldn't be talking about, the book. But as she looked at the fear in Ula's eyes, she knew Ula was telling the truth. It made sense because Warlus told them that the Ocean God was trying to find the missing pieces of the original bible written by the King of Kings himself.

Leyla before we both moved toward the wooden study tables. Pelin placed the book down with a thud, it was heavy. A faint scent of old parchment wafting into the air. “What is it?” I asked, leaning in closer as she flipped open the heavy cover. “It’s called Beçin Chronicles: A History of the Byzantine Castle and Its Mythical Beings,” she said, her voice hushed, as if someone might sneak up on us, hiding behind the shelves of the library, eavesdropping uninvited.

Charlie was extremely surprised and blurted out, “Uncle, what were the books my parents were reading? Do you remember?” Christian thought for a moment, saying, “If I remember correctly, it should be titled something like ‘Apocalyptic Book’, but I can't remember exactly.” Charlie widened his eyes and subconsciously asked, “Uncle, are you sure it was the Apocalyptic Book?!” Christian suddenly came to a realization and said, “Yes, yes, yes! It's called the Apocalyptic Book! The Preface to the Apocalyptic Book sounded strange to me at first. I thought it was a classic book, but your dad said it was the key to opening another world. I always thought he was a bit crazy…”
