The Return of the Emperor
His pulse chaotic.
The trail led him to a place no sane soul would dare linger, the forgotten quarters beneath the palace, where the air itself carried a history of screams. To the cellar. The slaughterhouse. The execution ground where convicts met their end in pools of their own blood. A place reeking of violence, rotten flesh and blood, abandoned except for guards who came when commanded.
And yet tonight, the anklets danced down its steps. The vanilla scent faded into its darkness.
He descended the stairwell, each step groaning beneath his weight, the sound booming in the hollow corridors like distant thunder.
