I was going to disappear anyway… Slipping away quietly like this might just be easier!

But as I shift my gaze at the phone in my hand, the weight of the call lingered as I knew the past wasn’t done with me yet, and neither was Horizon Enterprises. And we were deeper than ever leaving us no options of turning back now.

The black horizon of the Pacific didn’t just rumble; it bled. Through the dense, wet curtains of the harbor fog, the silhouette of *The Leviathan* materialized like a prehistoric leviathan cut from matte-black steel. The naval destroyer sat three miles out, a ghost ship commissioned by the absolute peak of corporate desperation, its heavy forward cannons slowly rotating toward the coordinates of the free port of Blackridge. They weren't here to negotiate an asset recovery. They were here to execute a scorched-earth liquidation.

Angels appeared in a variety of guises and, when it came to a certain time, a descendant of angels and demons was born to people, who would sweep all people off the face of the earth . Overhead, the sky wasn't dark with night, but thick with swirling, iridescent celestial clouds drawn toward the massive white marble monolith looming in the distance. The pillar of light shooting from its apex grew wider, pulsing in tandem with a heavy, low-frequencied hum that vibrated through the armor of every soldier.

He just gave a solemn nod and turned his focus back to the road while he continued to drive through the night. We finally arrived back at the pack territory in the early hours of the morning, just as the first pale light of dawn began to peek over the horizon. The moment our vehicle pulled up to the main gates, a senior pack warrior hurried forward with a tense expression on his face and opened my door before the vehicle had even come to a complete stop.

Atlas reached out with a numb hand and clicked the radio off. The silence that followed was absolute, terrifying, and profound. The last fragile thread of hope that had sustained us through the nightmare of the Keep snapped in an instant. No armies were coming to save us. There was no safe territory waiting over the mountains. The entire world was burning, devoured by the same grotesque horror that had taken Sia, Timmy, and Marcus. Vanya sank onto a wooden stool, burying her face in her hands as silent, hopeless tears spilled through her eyes. Kenny stared at the black radio with wide, hollow eyes, his shoulders slumping under the weight of total despair.
