Breaking The Ice Between Us
Not even the sun wanted to fully commit today.
I didn’t move.
I just laid there, puffy-eyed, mildly dehydrated, and hollow. Like a person-shaped balloon with all the good air let out.
And then—
Then I laughed.
It started as a tiny huff, like a breath caught in the wrong place. But it grew. I sat up slowly, ran a hand through my hair, and just started laughing like a full-blown lunatic.
Like, actual Joker-on-the-subway laughter.
High-pitched. Slightly unhinged. The kind that would have gotten me committed if someone walked in.
