Lauren's POV I adjusted the strap of my messenger bag, my fingers brushing against the edge of the neatly packed files inside. Everything was in its place, but a flicker of unease stirred in me. As I stepped into the hospital lobby, the sharp, sterile scent of antiseptic filled the air—familiar, yet always slightly overwhelming considering this had been my world for years now. She pressed on a remote and a series of projected images suddenly appeared on the large screen behind Lauren — pictures of her at exclusive private events, suspiciously cozy with businessmen linked to scandals, and damning footage of a younger Lauren arguing with Amara’s father outside a hotel when Amara’s mother was still alive.

She looked like a lady who lived a life of luxury. The Faust family's grandmother was there too, her hair a beautiful silver at the age of eighty. She had lost her partner five years ago. Right now, she had it in a high ponytail. Her brown eyes had glints of gold that in certain lights would glow out people. She could not be more than five foot four or five. Lauren must look like a child compared to Lucas’s six foot one build. Her boy had chosen well.
