She felt much more relaxed, and this spy no longer seemed like a monstrosity. Layla Smith, a distant relative of Lilian on her mother’s side, was the caregiver’s name. She was around forty years old. Layla appeared to be an honest woman who spoke a few words and lied. She brought little with her, and neither did Hailey. With teamwork, they unpacked fairly quickly. Because this was a special occasion, Hailey packed a red packet for Layla. The latter thanked her, saying, “Thank you, young lady,” and pocketed the money.

Layla POV "That flower goes there." Carla pointed with her pen like she was conducting an orchestra. She had been overseeing the decorations for the past two hours and showed no signs of stopping. I carried the pot of moonrose across the hall with both hands, set it on the podium, and immediately sneezed so hard I nearly knocked it over. "Bless ya, Layla," she called without looking up from her notepad. "You gonna survive or should I bench you?”

"I am fine, I just need to lay down." Lisa did not stop her with more questions but let Layla walk away. Reaching her room, Layla went straight to bed, laid down on her comforting blanket, and closed her eyes. Her breathing slowed as she wondered why she was so worked up.
