Left to Rot, Held by Her Again
Rose was abandoned. Dad was exposed.
I should have felt satisfied. But inside, I was empty.
All I wanted now was my mom. For her to stay. For her to never leave me again.
“Okay, Mom,” I whispered, my voice weak but sure. “Take me away.”
We turned to go, but Dad stumbled forward, his face ashen, his hands grabbing at our clothes. He dropped to his knees.
“No! Please—don’t leave me! Fiona, Ava—you can’t walk away from this family!” His tears streaked down his face, his voice breaking. “I finally have you both back. We can be a family again, don’t take that away!”
