Beyond Rejection.
And I wait for it with patient determination.
The day comes quietly, almost too quietly. Levi is in the study, buried in work as usual. Greta fusses about Ray in the nursery, making sure he’s comfortable. Jenna is distracted by some task in the kitchen. And I—finally, finally—move without the world noticing. I pack only what I must, leaving nothing behind that will betray my departure. I take one last look around my room, noticing how much of myself has become a part of this house, how strange it will feel to leave it all behind. But I push the thought aside. I am not leaving for me. I am leaving for Ray, and for the life I hope to give him.
