Tempting the Wrong Prince
“Diana, when this is all over, when the divorce is final, let’s leave the country.”
She blinked. “Leave Eldenwald?”
“Yes,” I said, still staring out at the horizon. The sky was a bleeding orange, fading into violet. “Let’s go somewhere new. Somewhere no one knows who we are. We’ll find work, build a life… a simple one.”
“My lady…” Her voice trembled slightly. “Are you sure?”
I turned to her, and for the first time all day, I smiled, softly, but without joy.
“What do you say, Diana?” I asked, my voice barely above a whisper. “Let’s leave the country, Diana. What do you say?”
