Unexpected Divorce
“Here you go again, thinking you know me.”
“I was married, true,” she continued. “But my husband died before I left China.”
Her words stunned me.
“You asked why I left,” she said. “I left because you always had your life figured out. You were smart, always winning, always succeeding. I felt empty, always needing your help. When an opportunity came, I took it. Leaving was the best thing that ever happened to me.”
She paused, then smiled bitterly.
“When I came back, I never wanted to see you again. But then I met Marcus, and we’ve been together ever since.”
