Then, she left in resentment. She was banging on the bowl in her hands while walking away. “Such a nice old woman, who would still chat with me. Her daughter-in-law would also reheat the leftovers when she gave them to me. I have never met such nice people. The good people just don’t live for a long life…” In the end, the old woman was choked up as she walked further away.

“It’s just… you’ve underestimated me. I was a fighter in my old neighborhood. We had to move because of me.” Unbelievable. This woman was insane. “Listen, Miss,” I said coldly. “Don’t ever climb my fence again. If you do, I won’t let you off easily.” Just then, her stomach rumbled loudly. She sniffed the air, her eyes lighting up. “Oh! That smells delicious.” I turned to see my cook setting my breakfast on the table. Without hesitation, she ran to the dining table. “You rich people are so lame,” she said, sniffing my food. “I’ll stay and eat the leftovers since I know you’ll probably waste it once I leave.”

Curious and slightly wary, and entirely unaware that the woman standing ten feet away from her had once counted her fingers in a hospital room and memorised every one. "Mama," Luna said softly. She was looking at Isabella. I felt a sharp pain pierce my heart. Isabella held her closer and turned away without looking at me again, and Elias followed, and the man by the laptop pulled the drive and pocketed it, and within two minutes the warehouse was emptying of everyone except me and the still, silent figure in the wheelchair by the far wall. The door closed. I stood completely motionless until I heard the cars outside start and pull away.

She thought about the woman who had walked out of that building on a night in October with grocery bags and completely still hands and no plan except to keep putting one foot in front of the other. She thought about everything that woman had done since. Forty-three blocks south to a smaller apartment with a broken radiator and walls that couldn't decide if they were white or yellow. A rubber plant she'd kept alive by accident and then on purpose. A market in Brooklyn. Brass letters above a door. A man who drew maps and didn't push and noticed things without making the noticing a performance. A manuscript with her name on it. A conversation with Sienna in a coffee shop with good light.

The vanity was cluttered with cosmetics from numerous luxury brands. The last shred of hope I had was shattered completely at the sight of a nearly empty box of condoms on the nightstand. So that was what William had been so "busy" with—building a life with another woman. I slumped onto the cold floor, buried my face in my hands, and broke down crying. I came from a poor background. Both my parents were from a rural village. I had poured everything I had into my studies just to get into a school in a big city.

I had even used the very last of my personal savings to buy the nutritional supplements his father needed while he was hospitalized. As it turned out, all of his money had been spent on this woman. The livestream comments hastily scrolled by. "This homewrecker looks pretty old. No wonder she seduced a younger instructor." "How does a parasite like her still have the nerve to slap someone? Get out of their house already!" "My heart goes out to Ellie. Girl, you deserve someone better!" Every single comment was like a knife carving into my heart.

"So, let me make this clear one final time. Avery is my biological sister. She is the only heiress of the Whitmore Group." Dead silence filled the office. Vanessa's pitiful expression froze on her face. Her eyes widened, and her lips trembled as she shook her head. "No... no, that's impossible." Her voice cracked. "She dresses so poorly. She didn't even know how to use silverware at a fine dining restaurant. How could she possibly be your sister?" Her eyes went blank. All the arrogance drained out of her. She had never imagined that the woman she had mocked and trampled on was the very person she had spent years trying to use.

“Is that the only reason?” “Maybe I wanted to know what it felt like to be the center of attention.” Samaire motioned with her hands and she tried to come up with the words. “There’s no respect in being the quiet one,” she finally said. “You’re forgotten and overlooked. But a party girl commands attention. Every man wants to be with her. Every woman wants to be her.” “That’s not true,” Dominic argued. “Some party animals are obnoxious and drunk and no one wants to be around them.”

She felt sad hearing the pregnancy had been removed and she wouldn't blamed the enraged mother either. "Madam, you cannot continue to create nuisance here. Kindly leave this premise at once" The main gate security finally walked up to Mrs Alice but she refused to leave. "Because is not your daughter they wanted to kill right?, that's why you're sending me away. Let the woman of the house step out!. Wicked people, is alright. You think I don't know my right, we shall see!" Mrs Alice fumed and left while Mrs Isabel sighed as the security man actually called her husband whom also refused to stepped out to find out what was happening.
