Leo choked and spit a mouthful of beer, splattering the whole laptop screen. Nino shot him a murderous look. Stephanie burst out laughing, and Ángelo raised a brow at Victoria, amused and curious. My little Omega won them all over like that, barely even trying. “From now on, I’ll just pretend I never had a daughter named Layla.” “Chris, I’m sorry,” Xena murmured, her eyes glistening with unshed tears. “I should’ve gotten along better with Layla.” “Xena, don’t apologize.” Chris cut her off, his last bit of hesitation finally crumbling. His expression darkened. “Forget it. She brought this on herself.” Seeing that even Chris had given up on Layla, Xena lowered her gaze to hide the triumphant glint in her eyes. “Layla Xander, what do you have left to fight me with now?” she silently remarked.

My mare, a sleek silver-gray horse named Lira, waited beside him, already saddled and bridled. Before mounting, Alexandro turned to me again, his expression more serious than before. "This won’t be easy, Serena," he said quietly. "You will see things that will haunt you. Blood. Death. War is not glorious. It’s ugly. It’s cruel." He reached out, brushing a stray lock of hair from my face. "But you are not weak," he said. "You are not fragile. You are stronger than you know. You wouldn’t be standing here if you weren’t."

Christian explained rather quickly while looking at Chris whose eyes seems to have tears in them. “I have heard of that before,” The doctor agreed. “But Selena would not be able to turn back until the child’s born” Chris looked like his whole world shattered but it felt so good to see him that way. Xavier ordered his men to release Leon before motioning for him to come closer. “I’m sorry for my men’s rudeness. It’s nice to meet you. I heard you’re Mama’s old friend,” Xavier said as he shook Leon’s hand. Even though Leon clearly had a thousand questions, he only nodded in response. “Yes… and I’m just seeing her again after a long time,” Leon said, glancing at me. I silently begged him to leave because the tension between the two men was becoming suffocating, but before Leon could say anything else, Xavier beat him to it.

Leo asks Don, who hands him his plate. "Sure, buddy," Don then cut the steak into pieces. I smile and pat Leo's head as I look up at Chris, and it seems he's enjoying his time but poking the meat with a fork staring at Leo. He barely touched his food, making me worried that his mother having a boyfriend still troubles him. "Are you okay, dove?" Don whispers next to me. I turn with a pouty face and return to Chris. "Oh, it's not you but Chris," he says. "Did something happen back at home?"

He went back to his previous position and stood still, leaning on the wall with his legs and arms crossed. I turned to look at Xavier who had the most dreadful look on his white face, it even look like he would snap Devin's neck within the twinkle of an eye. He moves closer with his shoulders high like they could no longer lap beside him. "X-Xa Xavier?" I stuttered "I needed to keep the books up" I moved back. I didn't know what I was scared of, either the murderous look on his face or the fact that he seems to be scowling at Devin who in return had the same dreadful look.

Inside, my anger burned hotter with each passing moment, fueling my determination to bring him down and rescue the innocent captives. I allowed a hint of doubt to creep into my voice, my eyes shimmering with feigned vulnerability. “I... I don’t know what to think anymore,” I said, my voice trembling. “If what you’re saying is true, then everything I believed... everything I felt for Xander... it’s all a lie?” Chris’s face contorted into a sinister grin, relishing in my apparent confusion. “Yes, my dear,” he replied, stepping closer. “I’ve seen through Xander’s deceit. Together, you and I can rise above him and claim the power that rightfully belongs to us.”

There's worry in Xavier's voice, picking up on my nervous demeanor. "Christopher, were you part of the same pack?" Christopher's eyes hadn't left mine, brown clashing against blue. "Celeste, I'm so glad you're okay after all these years!" he moved to take a step forward, an arm out with the intention of a hug. I quickly backed away at the same time Xavier took a step between us. "Xavier?" Asked Lesa, "What's going on?" He remained silent, holding an inquisitive look towards Christopher. "Christopher?" He glanced at me over Xavier's shoulder, not an ounce of regret in his blank stare.
