" While the woman in a black robe was wondering, Chu Xun was playing with a leopard. It was a very beautiful leopard. Its body was three meters long and was as hard as if it were cast in mithril. Its speed was very fast, comparable to that of a Human Immortal. Swoosh! The leopard streaked through the air like a bolt of lightning and thrust its razor-sharp claws at Chu Xun's throat. "This beast is really brutal. Its every move is deadly." Chu Xun took a step to the side and dodged the attack of its claws. Unexpectedly, several electric arcs suddenly burst out from those sharp claws.

A smile spreads across my face as I pull my hand away from his chest to see the difference in the brand that Lucern’s addition has made. The familiar flaming pentragram catches my eyes first, the swirling lightning flashing magically the longer that I look at it. Inside of the circle is the same moon that represents my Lycan King, but now instead of the bright color it was before, it is a light shade of red, with a dark border as dark as blood, with blood dripping from the top in lazy movements.

“Okay so what is the problem with that beautiful man?” I ask Harlan and Cyrus, slightly pissed off, “Luna, you know how there are Kitsunes and there are dark Kitsunes, the Nogitsunes, right? Well Theo is a Nogitsune. He is a dark fox, a trickster fox. If he showed interest in you, the child of the prophecy, then he probably has something planned,” Cyrus tells me.

I had used my magic on him before so it shouldn’t be that tough to heal him this time around although it might take longer than usual. As I chanted the incantation, I could feel his body relax under my touch. A light sheen appeared and dusted his body with a light red color, the color of my inherent magic, hereditary to the Amorets. The sparkles looked beautiful against his fur and the more I caressed his body while chanting the spell the more I felt his shivering body calm down. I closed my eyes again and focused my energy. Changing the spell to a stronger one I saw the red spots of blood slowly evaporate with my magic.

“Forgive me, I still don’t understand.” Aurora lowered herself into the chair beside Harper. “I am a descendant of an extremely old and powerful line of witches. When I came of age, my mother passed on this unique gift to me. Mater Luporum—loosely translates to Mother of Wolves.” A streak of fear crept down my spine. “Whoever is in possession of this gift wields the power over every wolf soul within their general vicinity. Not quite a trance but rather a tie of unbreakable loyalty.”

And you use Leila, who has no magic of her own, to fuel your lies.” Leila, who had been reveling in the surge of borrowed power from whatever Patricia had given her, recoiled slightly at Devon’s accusation. Her eyes flashed, not with genuine magical strength, but with a desperate, borrowed fury. She clutched the amulet Patricia had discreetly pressed into her hand earlier, a dark, pulsating stone that seemed to siphon energy from the ambient magic of the shrine itself. The emerald glow around her intensified, a flickering, unstable imitation of true power.

Up close she’s huge but not terrifying, her gray-white fur patterned with dark rosettes, pink nose twitching, ocean-blue eyes fixed on me. “Come on,” he urges. Skeptical, I kneel and reach out, eyes squeezed shut. Ben chuckles and presses his hand over mine, guiding it across her fur. I don’t know if it’s the softness of her coat or his hand over mine, but tingles race up my arm. “What is she? A jaguar?” I ask. “Leopard. Snow leopard,” he corrects. Oh. Way off. “Did you buy her? Doesn’t she need snow to survive?”

I can feel her presence so close. I mentally scoffed. One thing with Rex was that, sometimes he can be unpredictable. One minute he would act normal, and the next he was acting like he had been hit somewhere in the brain. 'Rex, it's normal for a wolf to perceive anything,' I said reluctantly. 'After all, you can smell literally everything and everyone.' 'I'm being real, Lorenzo.' His voice rose a little higher than usual, vibrating somewhere at the back of my skull. And whenever he called me by my full name, I knew he was being dead serious. 'I can smell our mate.'

Lana opens her lips as if to say something, but as if she’s being pulled by strings, her body stiffens, and her eyes go completely black. The hair on my neck rises as Apolliana’s lips curl into a sneer, and she rips the now useless siphon necklace from her neck, “I watched as the Lamb opened the first of the seven seals. Then I heard one of the four living creatures say in a voice like thunder, "Come and see!" I looked, and there before me was a white horse! Its rider held a bow, and she was given a crown, and she rode out as a conqueror bent on conquest.
