Loretta looped her arm through his, giving me a smug, mocking look. Her lips curled into a small smile as she mouthed, "You lost." I just glanced at the watch. She could go ahead and smile. Ironically, because of her unwavering belief that it was real, the panic of this chance slipping through her fingers like sand in an hourglass drove her closer to the edge of insanity.
