I nodded as my response and asked,"Will your parents be there at the wedding? I didn't get to see them when I came to your house that day." "My parents are dead. They both passed away when I was young." Mr. Ackerman didn't appear upset or concerned when he said his parents died, as if he didn't care. "Daniel and Levi?"

Levi whispered with amusement. "She probably dragged him out of a poker night," I murmured back, leaning closer so our voices wouldn't be heard. "And he forgot her birthday last year," Levi added, the corner of his mouth twitching, a laugh was coming through. "And she hasn't forgiven him. At all." I struggled not to laugh as the woman dramatically checked her watch for the third time in two minutes. "And he knows it." Levi's voice dropped lower, conspiratorial. "Look at his foot," I whispered. "He's tapping it like he's about to make a run for it."

"You're okay is all that matters," I yanked away from his grip and growled at my partner, saying, "Fuck does it. I want to know what occurred. Levi sighed and said, "Later, Mabella . It's your birthday, and I don't want anything to ruin your day." He appeared strained and exhausted, so I scowled up at him. He appeared to be his actual age for the first time since I first met Levi . I was temporarily confused by it, so I just stared up at him in silence.

I just know Levi spent a lot of time with Knox when we were little, and he still does. Levi is almost 2 years older than the two of us. Knox and I both turn 18 on September 8th, and Levi turns 20 October 4th. It's not a huge age difference, but he was two grades above us when he was still in high school. And yet, he sat with us every single day. Levi and Knox talked science... yuck! (See, he's not stupid... just an idiot!)

“When did you guys plan all this?” “Took about three days.” He answered, raising his glass to me. “Levi called to ask me if I had any idea when your birthday was. That was when I realized it was so close and your twenty-ninth birthday can’t be missed. None of your birthdays can be missed since you always throw a fit if I as much as don’t remember it.” My jaw dropped. “My twenty-ninth birthday? How the hell am I twenty-nine? I thought I was twenty-four or twenty-five at most.”

Phoenix replied and she sprung up in an instant. “Is it?” She gasped; her eyes widened at Phoenix’s words. “Oh my God, I’m so sorry… I’m such a bad friend!” She apologized however I had no intention of blaming her, I mean even I don’t know my own birthday, why would she? “Come to think of it… how did you know it’s my birthday today?” And how does Levi know? “I have my ways… come here, I missed you.” He pulled me closer into an embrace. If Levi knows about it, why didn’t he wish me today?

"Besides, it won't be long before you turn 18, right? If I remember correctly, your birthday is in a few weeks." A blush crept up my cheeks, and I nodded, the anticipation of my upcoming birthday mixing with the tenderness of the moment. "Yes, you're right," I replied, my voice tinged with a mixture of excitement and playfulness. "In just a few weeks, I'll officially be an adult." Levi's smile widened, his gaze filled with affection. "Well then, Jasmine," he said, his voice lowering to a husky whisper, "we have something incredible to look forward to, don't we?"

When Levi asked him to be at the clinic in ten minutes, he quickly agreed, regardless of the late hour. Levi stood outside the clinic doors as the doctor arrived ten minutes later. He didn't care to change his plaid pajama bottoms but had thrown on a t-shirt. Dr. Marcus Ackerman had been the pack doctor for years, his experience becoming apparent with the wrinkles crinkling at the corners of his eyes and the smile lines embedded in his leather skin. “Laurence again, really?” The aged doctor questioned as he grumbled up the steps, careful of the small snow piles resting at the bottom of the stairs. “If this isn't legitimate, I'm going to punch him.”

Amaira nodded to Levy with a sense of understanding as she paused and then asked, “ Anyway if you don’t mind would you mind coming with me this Sunday? It's Derek’s birthday and I would like to buy him a gift.” “ I don’t know yet but I will let you know if I am free on Sunday because I have this thing where I work and I don’t know if I would be able to take time off,” Levy wasn’t lying, it was Kyle’s birthday or more like the day he got released from the prison on Monday and Leo was all set to throw a party for him. Levy did not know whether or not she could take time off. More importantly, she would rather keep her distance from Amaira and Derek.
