It was a tiring day for Vivian, both mentally and physically. When she returned to Dahl's mansion after class, it was almost time for dinner. Turns out college was tiring. Or maybe it was just because it had been a while since Vivian had actually studied in a classroom? And it turned out that studying psychology was also not easy. Most of the professors on campus were old, and for some reason, Vivian couldn't understand the lectures easily even though she was sure she wasn't stupid.

Finals were way worse than midterms, Leesa quickly discovered. Not only was there twice as much material to study and remember, but the exams counted as a much bigger portion of the final grade, making the pressure that much greater. Everyone in the dorm was feeling it—everyone but Stacie, that was. Stacie was a brainiac who never studied past eleven o’clock and still got nothing but A’s. She was always smiling and energetic, when glassy stares and dragging gaits had become the norm.

It was just James. She turned her back. She saw a seat nearby, hiding under a small circular desk. She walked towards it. Lily pulled the seat out and sat on it. She saw the other scholars sitting on the chairs as similar as hers. The desks were in a circular pattern which make them face each other. In the middle was a hole, a space that James can stand on and discuss whatever should we study. She watched James walk to the hole. He stood there with confidence, like what leaders need. With him was a textbook between his right armpit. He hacked while his two hands rested next to his legs.

I found I had peace of mind knowing she was okay, and I am sure she felt the same way. The girls and I had been spending a lot of time together outside of classes, and it surprised me at how well we were all getting along. The four of us were all studying subjects in the medical field, but we had no classes together. Leah was studying to become a midwife. Lilly was studying psychology and Julie was studying to become a physical therapist. They were incredibly smart girls, and I just knew they were all going to excel in their chosen fields.

Your holidays have just started. Stop studying.” Marie: “Studying is my favorite hobby. Taking a break from it is not possible.” Jean: “How can studying be a hobby?” Marie: “The same way playing basketball can be a hobby.” Jean: “Oh please! Playing is very different from studying.” Marie: “If you say so. Haha. What will you do today?”
