I hated the way I felt—like a stranger in my own body, like I couldn’t breathe, like I was watching my life from the outside and not really living it.
I didn’t know what I was supposed to do next. And I wasn’t sure if I ever would.

The door to my room opened suddenly, and I looked up, startled. I wasn’t sure what I expected, but I didn’t anticipate the tension I saw in Luca’s eyes.
