Slinging my ratty backpack over my shoulder, I took off for Eclipse University’s sprawling library where I spent the entirety of the day lost in the stacks, reading every bit of magical text I could get my hands on. Of course, Ryker and Jude checked in, mind-linking me when I stopped answering my phone. Lucille had been blowing me up, wanting to know why I’d skipped out on my shift. I turned my phone off after the fourth call. The library at Eclipse University happened to be the largest on the entire island. It was so big that it had its own dedicated building with wings for the various types of literature. Each time I found a new potion I tested it out.

CHAPTER 29 Six weeks later. Myla had a huge test she needed to prepare for, she had been holed up in the library for three days straight. It wasn't like the course was hard, the material was just very scarce, very few people even knew what it was about in the beginning. She sighed and adjusted her hair ribbon. Staying without any form of human interaction coupled with the boring work was driving her crazy slowly. She tapped her pen against her book and stood up, she should find another source material to study from. She sighed as she saw the one she would like was at the far edge of the library, the secluded end. It was also looking very dark, she hated dark spaces.

“ I need to go to the library to take a book for the next subject , The teacher said that he will lower our points if we did not have that book . I nearly forgot about it . My brother has never been so much in a library before . It’s understandable that he is annoyed . “ said Amra with a laugh .

After returning from my trip, I spent two days on bed. Final exams starts next week so I had to work hard, the syllabus was huge and I haven't even started yet. Sophia's POV “I… I was in the library, sir,” I stammered, the words tumbling out too fast. “I didn’t realize how much time had passed.” Mr. Diego didn’t look convinced. His eyes narrowed just enough to make my stomach flip, like he could peel back every layer of the lie and see the real reason I was late. “Hmm,” he said slowly, drawing the sound out until it felt like a physical touch. “Since you’ve been studying so diligently, I believe you can complete the illustration on the board.”

Too unlike him. When I was not training under punishing silence, I hid in the only place that did not scream rejection, the Pack Library. Ancient scrolls, leather-bound books, political archives, alpha lineages, business records, regional power maps, old treaties… I devoured them all. Every spare moment, I spent in that quiet sanctuary of words. My mind was hungry in ways no sparring match could satisfy. Knowledge became my shield.

By the time I had gotten to the center of the library, to my surprise, it was almost literally empty. Unlike the remaining parts of the library filled with shelves of books and tall ladders, this one had only a large globe and some other things like pictures and artifacts that almost made me think I had transitioned from a library to a museum. I recounted the remaining letters and just as Marco said—CL-R1-S3R. I was at the center of the library, but what was the L? I wondered, looking around. Finding nothing, I decided to skip L for R, since it meant Row.

My lips stretched into a wide smile, this place was going to be my favorite place in this school. “Good afternoon young lady, it’s nice to see some young and fresh minds eager for some knowledge.” With a smile on my face, I briskly approached the librarian and said, "Good afternoon, Miss. Where can I get books on Alphas?” “She responded with a smile, "As you walk down the shelves you will see them labeled with directions, the northern wing contains everything about alphas." I thanked her right away and headed towards the shelves.
