I fall to the floor and look up at Anabella who is wearing a smirk on her face. “Finally I’ll have him all to myself without you being in the way,” she gloats and leans over me. “This is for the best, little sister.” I cough and blood spittle flies everywhere, but with my last breath I decide to do something I should have done a long time ago; expose my sister for what she is. /“L-Lucan…My sister has…killed me… there’s a…she stuck a dagger…”/ I stutter my last words through the mind link.

Black as the darkest night hair against a crisp linen pillow, brown skin against a blindingly white sheet, and tiger’s eyes burning with deliberate cruelty and triumph into hers. She was hardly more than a black dot now on the horizon by the time Astrid spoke. “Nevermind that,” Astrid said. “She KILLED him! That witch bitch actually KILLED her OWN brother!” Astrid’s voice was full of horror. The flash of light had been meant for Astrid. But Beta Brighton had stepped out in front of Astrid, blocking the light. So yes, Brinsle had just killed her sister.
