When I feel the electricity racing down my arm, I slam the sword into the ground, sending waves of energy and electricity into the earth, and rolling toward Lorelai’s army.

I hadn’t gotten around to sort them out, it felt wrong to throw books out but some of them could be dangerous in the wrong hands. I didn’t have time to read them all, but I couldn’t ask one of the soldiers to help me. Luckily my dad had organized the books in several sections, wolves with special abilities was one of them. I quickly started to flip through the pages, finding something useful until I noticed a painting on one of the pages that looked like Amber. "The Luminous Wolf. “I chose to become an advisor because I knew my mind was suited for it.” Finally, after I don’t know how long, he looked at me. His ice-blue eyes met mine. “I could have chosen to ignore my instincts and become a warrior,” he explained. “But then I would be dead—and I likely would have taken others with me.” His gaze dropped to the book in his hands. “Just because I can wield a sword doesn’t mean I should be a warrior.” Something clicked inside me. I looked at his hands—at the elegant fingers that weren’t rough like Nicolais’, that weren’t meant for battle.

A golden light began to glow from her tiny chest, warm and bright, pushing back the shadows that pressed against them. "She is responding," Kai whispered, his voice filled with wonder. "Her power is waking." Elias felt it too. He turned and looked at his sister, his golden eyes widening with recognition. "She is the key. She is the light that will banish the darkness." The golden light from Lyra grew brighter, spreading outward in waves. It touched the warriors, filling them with renewed strength. It touched the darkness, forcing it to recoil. The allied forces surged forward, their spirits lifted by the warmth of the light.

Fear gripped my heart, but then I heard Aura’s voice in my mind, clear and resolute, **“Use your light.” I focused on the warmth that emanated deep within my core, letting it build and spread until it engulfed me. The dark rogues hesitated, sensing the change, but it was too late for them. I released the light in a blinding, radiant wave. The rogues let out a collective howl of agony as the light consumed them, turning them to ash.
