I was her boss after all and she couldn't question me. "Sir, we are here," my driver announced, and brought the car to a halt. I got out of the car and walked into the club, loosening my tie. "What would you like to drink?" The bartender asked me as I took a seat at the counter. "Get me a bottle of chardonnay," I ordered and he turned to go get it for me. I looked around and watched as people partied their lives away. Some strippers were performing on the pole and people were spraying them with money.

He asked with a mischievous smile. "Three shots for us," Marjan ordered with a shy smile. "Does this also taste awful? " I asked Marjan stupidly. "Looks like it's your first time in a bar." The bartender smirked. "Yeah, you can say that." I gave him a tight smile. "That makes sense." He chuckled. "Wait a minute, I'm giving you something so hot and sexy." "I'm Anwar. And you girls?" The bartender took three glasses and started pouring a bottle of whiskey then passed them to us with a charming smile.

Busy travelers urgently bustle here and there while duty-free shops beckon shoppers. Ah-ha. I dart into a bar. I spot a high-top by the window in direct view of the television. I scan the area, finding I am the lone customer. With his back to me stocking bottles, the bartender asks what I would like as I attempt to walk by. I pause at the bar opposite his back. I order, “The Three Wise Men.” The bartender turns, making eye contact with a sly grin upon his warm, chestnut face. His coffee-brown eyes crinkle at the corners. His jaw is dark with the hint of a day or two without a shave.

I fully believed that. Many sets of eyes were on me as I made my way over to the bar. “Bourbon neat,” I told the bartender. “A pretty thing like you deserves a night of fun. Holler if you can’t find your spice. This one is on the house,” he said with a wink. I was pushing as much calm as I could to my mates. Luckily, I had the forethought to go ahead and give Dante a charm that also gave out a steady dose of all things calm.

After all, it was only 1:30 in the afternoon. "Hello Miss. What can I get for you today?" The bartender asked. He was an older man—probably in his 50's. He looked like a tough guy with a bushy beard, shorter build, and bulging muscles. If I had to stereotype, I'd say he looked like a biker. However, he had a very kind smile and pleasant demeanor, which I wouldn't have expected at first glance. "Hi. Can I please have a double shot of Patrón with maybe some ice in it so I can just drink it? Oh, and also a margarita on the side because I probably won't like drinking straight Patrón. Thanks."

Heels against marble. Eyes following without anyone saying my name. The bartender noticed me before I reached the counter. Early twenties. Black vest. His hands were already moving toward the bottles. “What can I get you?” I scanned the shelf behind him. Let the silence linger. Five seconds. Then five more. “Gin martini. Dry.” “You got it.”

How do I go home like this? I look at the phone. Is it already ten o'clock pm? I texted Mom and Dad but was stopped when the bartender gave me a drink. I wave my hand, telling him I don't want to drink. "This is for free, ma'am." I looked at him. "The bar owner was celebrating his birthday and decided to give a free drink to each customer." I nodded and looked at the drink. "Can I have one?" the man beside me asks. "Uhm,"

The liveliness here was top-notch, but i wasn't here to celebrate something or have fun. I squeezed my way out of the crowd slowly as no one was on one spot enough to realize that someone needed to pass through. So, I managed to keep squeezing myself out until I was out of the whole congested crowd. I walked up to the bartender, and sat down on the stool. “What drink would you like to have?” The bartender inquired, and I waved my hand to express I wasn't interested. “Miss, it's on the house, please have it.” He said and tossed a glass of whiskey to me.

Even the bartender looked bored as he attended to a lone customer who was perching at the bar, looking disasociated from his surroundings. I narrowed my eyes, and took few steps in, scanning the area just to be safe. "Are you sure about this, Luca?" Dante asked, coming to stand beside me, his eyes also checking around us. "We were invited, both directly, and indirectly, so yes. I am sure." I told him and didn't wait for him to speak before going straight to the the bar. I signalled at the bartender, who seemed excited to finally get new customers. "Just tequilla." I told him, easing into the stool, while Dante did the same.

Chapter 3 I bit my lower lip when I saw the bartender's forehead creased. I'd been sitting at the bar area for more than five minutes, trying to figure out what the bloody cocktail drinks were made of. I tapped my fingers at the counter while my eyes narrowed at the menu. "Uh, excuse me but what's this uhm... this Bloody Mary?" The bartender sighed and shook his head. "You don't want that, kid." He grabbed a can of Coke in the chiller and placed it in front of me. "Just get this one and get out of here, will yah? I ain't Google, sugar."
